Ultrafine barium sulfate has four functions in coatings

Ultrafine barium sulfate has fine particle size and narrow particle size distribution. The average particle size of primary particles is in the range of 0.01-0.08 micron, and the particle size distribution is very narrow, with primary particles below 0.1 micron accounting for 90% and even more than 96%. Applied in the coating industry, generally has the following characteristics or functions:

1, can improve the physical properties of the coating added with ultrafine barium sulfate coating base material shows non-Newtonian viscosity, so it can improve the fluidity of the coating, prevent flow resistance hang, prevent precipitation, so that the coating has a good fullness.

2, good dispersity in coating base material in coating base material, in the usual pigment dispersion conditions, good dispersity. Therefore, the coating film formed with the addition of such pigment will not be whitened by light scattering of barium sulfate.

3, dispersed in the resin liquid with transparent wavelength of visible light 380-780 nm, if the particle size in 0.19 micron below, that is, the half wavelength of visible light below, light can pass this particle. The average particle size of this ultrafine barium sulfate is 0.01~0.08 micron, and the particle size distribution is very narrow. In essence, however, all the particles of barium sulfate have sizes below half the wavelength of visible light. Therefore, its disposable particles dispersed in the resin liquid, transparent, although a large number of use, can also get good transparency of the film.

4, with organic coloring pigments with dispersive additives organic coloring pigments, as concentrated pigments in coatings in a large number of use.
